Maxi Dresses at the Beach

I love maxi dresses.  They put me in a breezy mood for the beach, they are feminine, but not overtly so, they are comfy, coy, casual, and don't mind getting a little salty.  They go well with a sunhat.

I got this dress on sale at Urban Outfitters. I liked the cuts on the back (something I like to do to old shirts) and the long sleeves.

the Getty

Went to the Getty Museum in L.A. with my sisters.  Enjoyed the art and the cactus gardens.  There was a Herb Ritts exhibition that was incredible, but I couldn't take any pictures.

My Indian fringe shirt from the thrift store, and a vintage Judy Knapp blazer.  It used to have shoulder pads, but I took them out so it would be comfier.

Two of my favorite pieces.

My new cat shirt from the thrift store. With the same high-waisted shorts.  Wore it to the beach today.

Going to a Tea Party!

My friend hosted a tea party.  (Isn't that adorable?) I was itching for an occasion to wear this obscenely puffy dress, and here was the perfect opportunity.  It was very Alice in Wonderland, but with notes of 50s partygirl.  Like in Back to the Future when they go to the Enchantment Under the Sea Dance.

Like these lovely ladies.

Super feminine, shamelessly frilly...I love this dress.

Reconstructed Retro/80s acid wash

80s reconstructed retro: Jeans turned shorts and tee turned tank.  Worn over a Brandy-Melville lacy thing.

I love the 80s.  I love 80s movies. I love 80's hair.  I love these 80s acid wash jeans.  They were a funky length, however, so I cut and re-hemmed them into shorts.

My Lucky Ladies shirt, cut from a vintage tee and made into a tank top (by my mom).  Featuring some strapping lads in sailor suits.

My favorite whimsical jewelry: mermaid bottle and birdcage pendant.  There is actually a little bird inside.

Cat Eyes

Cat eye sunglasses. super retro classy.

my new obsession, inspired by none other than Norma Jean herself.
